Marathon

Today I attended the annual Miles with The Giant Marathon here in Thunder Bay. Not as a competitor mind you, only as a spectator.

It was quite interesting. I wake up at 5:30am, which is probably the earliest time I've been awake in well over a month (aside from staying up that late). I drive to the marathon, arrive a bit early so I can get a coffee, and set up camp.

The turn out is amazing; hundreds of people gather in front of me in the once busy city street. The announcer counts down to the start, and the massive crowd takes off around the corner (one can only imagine what an unaware pedestrian around the corner was thinking).

School

Well, today I moved to Thunder Bay. I'm currently repeating grade 12 for the second time. Most of my friends have moved to various schools around Ontario, so I've decided to move to a different high school in a different city.

I'm taking a 6th year of high school because for the longest time I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life. It's a big decision, and I never really found the time to just sit down and think about it. I've never really ever loved one single thing, I've always just kind of liked a lot of things. I thought for a while that I wanted to get into film production (in fact I was even accepted at Carlton University last year), but then I realized that there's very little money in it, as well as very few jobs.

Internetless

I've been without internet for the past few weeks. It's been interesting.

Actually it hasn't. In the few moments in which I'm not out of the house, I just use my laptop to watch already downloaded episodes of the sopranos; pretty much what I'd be doing anyways.

Regardless, I have a moment now to make a new post, so I figured I'd take it, though there's very little to update you on. I've just been hanging out with friends, going to parties, and watching the sopranos. All in all, a good way to spend my summer.

At the end of this month I'm moving to a new place where I'll always have internet, so expect a more frequent updates starting at the end of the month.

Small Rabbit

I found a small rabbit in my yard today. Figured I'd share the pictures with you:
 He was in the garden.
Picked him up and he quivered in my hand.

Tried giving him water and some food, but he was too scared to eat. Cute little guy.

New Sunglasses

Well I slept in til 3:30 today, so I didn't get to do much. This'll probably be a pretty short post

After waking up I played Portal 2 for a while with my brother. It's a pretty fun game, but I found myself getting irritated when he didn't understand the puzzle as well as I did. It's weird that my mind does that.

After a while of that I went to the mall and purchased some shades. They're sort of a wayfarer styling but with a narrower frame than most.
Sort of like these, but with a warmer tint for the glass:
I was hoping for some clubmaster shades, but I couldn't find any. They look more like this:

Regardless, I'm glad to finally have some sunglasses; these days have been far too sunny for these light-deprived eyes.

The Mall

I spent most of today shopping.

I started off by going to the gym with my cousins. Had a fairly decent chest workout. I saw a guy there who was just massive. He was like a caricature. I'd hate to be that big. At that size it'd be impossible to be known for anything other than your size. You'd always be introduced as '...and this is Chris, the bodybuilder.'

After that my cousins and I went to the mall. Purchased a new wallet, a new mouse, Portal 2, and some clothes from a store that was having a going out of business sale. I bought some fries and a smoothie from the food court.

Afterwards I was picked up by my father and we went shopping again. We went to the mall, then future shop, and finally chapters. In chapters I bought a coffee from Starbucks. A massive thunderstorm hit at that point, so we stayed in chapters for a little while.

After that we drove home, and I played portal 2 til 5am. Which is why I'm posting this at 3:30pm, as I've just woken up. Really got to work on that sleep schedule.

Krishna Festival

Today was an alright day.

Got up at around 11:30 so I'd have enough time to go to the gym. Went to Fit4Less with my cousins. I showed them a thing or two and still got in a pretty good workout. Took a lot longer than I expected. Much better than our gym.

After that I went to a Krishna festival. I was asking some questions and I realized how little I actually know about middle eastern culture and religion. I'd like to study up on it, but I really don't have the time or patience.

I really don't have the time or patience to do many things at all lately. I think it stems from television and video games. My mind's become so used to experience a great amount of stimuli at a given time. It can't transition well to the simplistic stimuli of reading a book. I've read meditation is supposed to help, though I don't have the patience to that either. Gradual steps I suppose.

Anyways, the Krishna festival was alright. They had some free food and some interesting stands promoting vegetarianism and the like. There were some live performances in which several women danced on the stage. All in all, an alright day.

Post the Second

Mediocre day.

Slept in til about 12:30. Step-brother came over, and I helped him install Sony Vegas. Afterwords we just sat beside each other and used our respective laptops for our own respective purposes.

It's interesting how humanity has progressed to that point. We now have a tool that is capable of keeping a man occupied from the moment he wakes up til the moment he goes to sleep. As technologies improve it's entirely probable that we will have the capabilities to artificially replicate any and all sensory inputs; fully commandeering our minds. I truly cannot wait until that day.

Went over to my cousin's house. We ate dinner, which was surprisingly satisfying. Not that their dinners are normally bad, but I'm rarely satisfied with any dinner. Afterwords we played some video games, and made some plans to go to the gym tomorrow.

All-in-all a pretty mediocre day.

Day 1

In thunder bay at the moment. It's 3am and I'm relatively bored.

Spent most of today sleeping. Ever since school ended my circadian rhythm has been all screwed up. I think I've been going to bed at 6am for the past week, and getting up at 4pm.

It's strange, but I don't really mind. All I'm really missing out on is hanging out with people, and I prefer to be alone anyways.

Decided to start up with the blogger game. Should be interesting. I think it'll be good to recap the day in a blog. Should be good for my memory.
